well, we've arrived. bangkok is just as a i remember it - hot, polluted and full of people who want to rip you off. of course, that's coming in at 2am and trying to find our guesthouse. which is awesome. we have pets! cute little ants that run all over everything. good times. and we actually have our own bathroom, but the toilet (YES! a real toilet. we're high class here at the sawasdee smile inn) is at this funky angle and right against a wall, so shea with her ridiculously long legs can barely sit there. bangkok will redeem itself today i'm sure as we set out to do all the touristy stuff and eat some street meat. mmmmm...street meat.
my trip here has been fun already - besides the slight stroke i had at the kamloops airport where they told me i needed a US address to fly in - couldn't get ahold of anyone to get ang's address, so i just went back and said "yeah. staying at the airport". fair enough, she said, and sent me on my way. had a fantastic sleep over with ang and her boys, we got them all hopped up on sugar right before bedtime, so it was good times. little joey came flying around the corner and said "AAHH!" so i yelled back "AAAHHH!". he threw his arms up, i picked him up, got a giant hug and he yelled "YOU'RE NICE!" ahhh. sugar.
sat next to the same guy on both of my flights, which was funny. i think my travel agent is also secretly a matchmaker. but, alas, who's at their best at 38,000 feet for 18 hours with no sleep?
well, i'm waiting for shea (you'll see a theme here) and we're going to get our vietnam visas today, then hit the bangkok scene. i'm sure we'll have plenty of stories to share.
